Here we go!

By The YaloséGames team

Hi! We’re YaloséGames, an indie studio from Málaga, and this is the first post on our blog. This is where we’ll share how Tourist Trap is coming along: our very first game!

To kick things off, I’m bringing you two little things I’ve been working on while we get next week’s build ready: our brand-new business card and the game’s elevator pitch, in a really cool video narrated by one of our artists!

We’ve got business cards

Every beach bar worth its salt keeps business cards on the counter, and we weren’t going to be any different.

One side shows Tourist Trap, with a QR code that leads to this website. The other has a QR code that takes you straight to our contact form.

Tourist Trap side of the card: the game's logo, a beach illustration and a “¡Visita la web!” (visit the website) QR code Studio side of the card: the YaloséGames logo, “Estudio indie de Málaga. Creadores de Tourist Trap” and a “¡Escríbenos!” (write to us) QR code

Both sides of the card, with the website’s awning and tiles.

If one ends up in your hands, you know what to do: scan the QR code and come and visit us for a while!

Tourist Trap in under two minutes

An elevator pitch is about presenting your project in the time it takes to ride a lift. We filmed ours in front of a green screen so we could show gameplay in the background! While we talk, you can see the beach bar, the kitchen and the beach in action behind us.

The Tourist Trap elevator pitch, narrated in Spanish with English subtitles.

In the video we cover the essentials:

  • What it is: A cooking tycoon sim set in an Andalusian beach bar, with different minigames for preparing dishes.
  • The story: Curro, our grumpy and lazy hero, gets a “scratch and win” card that turns out to be a “scratch and pay”. The prize is a beach bar in ruins and a debt with Rascacienda (our take on the tax office), and the only help comes from his uncle, Rogelio Chiringelio.
  • The humour: Inspired by Francisco Ibáñez and his comic Mortadelo y Filemón (known in English as Mort & Phil), with chaotic events like fires or tsunamis in the middle of service.
  • The plan: We want to release it on Steam in May 2028, and we’re looking for funding to finish it, grow the team and bring it to more platforms.

Important: remember the gameplay comes from a VERY early build of the game. We’re still in development!

What’s next

This blog will be our development diary. In the next post we’ll share what’s new in the latest builds of the game, plus a bit of the art we’re bringing in.

In the meantime, there’s more about the game on the Tourist Trap page. And if you’re press, run a festival, want to playtest the game or just want to say hi, drop us a line.

See you next time!
